In August 2019, the 4th Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo and the 9th Dunhuang Tour Silk Road International Tourism Festival were held in Gannan, Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province. Secretary General Yangjin Zhuoma invited the then Minister of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia as the guest of honor to attend the opening ceremony. During the event, he had discussions with Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism, Chushugang, and Secretary of the Gansu Provincial Party Committee, Lin Duo, to report on the reopening of the Majushan Port in Gansu Province and cooperation with Mongolia through cultural and tourism initiatives. As the only bordering country with Gansu Province, the reopening of the Mazongshan Port has important economic and strategic significance for the stable development of the northwest region and even the whole country. Also, it benefits Gansu Province's active participation in Mongolia's resource development, improving the shortage of raw materials in industrial enterprises; fully utilizes the favorable opportunity of implementing the Belt and Road strategy to connect with the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor and promote the trilateral cooperation of China, Mongolia, and Russia; coordinates the development plan of the five cities in Hexi and creates an integrated development of characteristic economic zone of Hexi Corridor.
