Against the backdrop of deepening friendly cooperation between China and Georgia, Yangjin Zhuoma, Chairman of Zhongbo Group, paid a visit to Paata Kalandadze, Georgian Ambassador to China. The two sides exchanged views on issues such as cultural inheritance, economic and trade cooperation, and new energy development, deepened cooperation consensus, and explored broad cooperation space in diverse fields.
Taking Culture as a Bond to Build Bridges of Friendship
Georgia, a magnificent land located at the Caucasus foothills and along the Black Sea coast, is a hub connecting Eurasia and a shining cultural pearl on the ancient Silk Road. The 5,000-meter Mount Kazbek stands tall, and the bells of the Holy Trinity Church have echoed for thousands of years. The hardworking and wise Georgian people have created a brilliant civilization with their hands, while cultural exchanges between China and Georgia have a long history tied to the Silk Road.
During the talks, both sides cited the culture of the ancient Silk Road and recalled the traditional friendship between the two countries. Ambassador Kalandadze said, "Although Georgia and China are thousands of miles apart, cultural resonance and historical origins bring our hearts closer. Just like Georgia's wine culture and China's baijiu culture, the two peoples' reverence for nature and love for life have always been connected." The Ambassador specifically mentioned that Georgia and China have huge cooperation potential under the framework of the "Belt and Road Initiative", and he hopes that Zhongbo Group will deepen non-governmental friendship through industrial linkage, strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation, and promote people-to-people bonds.
Exploring a New Pattern of Cooperation under the Opportunities of the "Belt and Road Initiative"
As an important node on the ancient Silk Road, Georgia, with its unique geographical location and open economic policies, has become a "golden corridor" connecting Europe and Asia. In recent years, relations between China and Georgia have continued to heat up. From the establishment of a strategic partnership in 2023, to the realization of visa exemption in 2024, and the implementation of the free trade agreement, bilateral cooperation has entered a fast track of high-quality development.
Ambassador Kalandadze stated, "Georgia has a convenient transportation network, an open investment environment, and rich tourism resources, making it an ideal gateway for Chinese enterprises to expand into the European market." He expressed appreciation for Zhongbo Group's diversified development and its contributions to the global environment and humanity, and looks forward to the Group introducing advanced technical resources and development concepts to Georgia, while helping local characteristic products and cultural resources go global.
Chairman Yangjin Zhuoma pointed out that Georgia is an important part of Zhongbo Group's global strategic layout. The Group is very willing to leverage its resources in professional fields, combined with Georgia's geographical advantages as a Eurasian hub, to explore development opportunities in cross-border logistics, cultural tourism, green energy and other fields with Georgia through the broad platform of the "Belt and Road Initiative", creating more growth points for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
Exploring New Energy Cooperation Prospects to Support Georgia's Sustainable Development
During the talks, the two sides focused on exploring cooperation prospects in the new energy field against the backdrop of accelerating global energy transition. The Ambassador stated that Georgia is rich in hydropower resources and has natural advantages in developing solar and wind energy. He hopes to have the opportunity to carry out practical cooperation with Chinese enterprises in new energy power station construction, energy storage technology research and development, and other fields.
In response, Chairman Yangjin Zhuoma said that Zhongbo Group has long been engaged in the clean energy industry and accumulated rich experience in photovoltaic, wind power and other fields. In view of Georgia's current energy development status, the two sides can strengthen cooperation, jointly explore sustainable development projects such as photovoltaic and wind power, accelerate the optimization of Georgia's energy structure, and achieve the goal of carbon neutrality.
