Green Energy Cooperation: Pioneering a Sustainable Development Path
The global energy landscape is undergoing profound transformation, and Burundi is actively pursuing green energy solutions to achieve its national sustainable development goals. As one of Africa's most promising green energy markets, Burundi urgently needs international cooperation to introduce advanced technologies and financial support, accelerating its energy transition and enhancing electricity supply capacity.
During the talks, both sides focused on exploring cooperation opportunities in solar and wind power development. Minister Uwizeye highlighted Burundi's abundant hydropower and solar resources, which provide exceptional natural advantages. The China-aided Ruzizi I Hydroelectric Plant already supplies over 20% of Burundi's electricity, serving China-Africa cooperation project as a landmark. Meanwhile, the completion of the Ruzizi III Hydropower Plant increased Burundi's power supply capacity by one-third. These projects have not only improved local livelihoods but also boosted regional economic growth. As a result, the Burundian government is eager to collaborate with Chinese enterprises on new energy power plant construction.
Chairwoman Yangjin Zhuoma stated that Zhongbo Group consistently upholds the development philosophy of open cooperation and mutual benefit, committed to integrating China's expertise with Africa's resource endowments to support African nations in achieving energy independence and green development. The Group has strong confidence in Burundi's renewable energy market and aims to leverage its extensive experience and technological strengths in the sector. With globally competitive advantages across the photovoltaic and wind power industry chains, Zhongbo is positioned to help Burundi realize its "Electricity for Every Household" initiative.
China-Africa Cooperation Forum Achievements Accelerate Implementation, Painting a New Blueprint for Green Silk Road through Innovation
The September 2014 FOCAC Beijing Summit built a rainbow bridge between Chinese enterprises and African markets. Minister Uwizeye emphasized that the Burundian government attaches great importance to comprehensive cooperation with China and looks forward to translating forum outcomes into concrete actions. Witnessed by leaders of both countries, China and Burundi have signed multiple bilateral documents, including a Belt and Road cooperation plan, an economic partnership agreement, agricultural cooperation deals, and protocols for Burundian coffee exports to China, further solidifying the bilateral partnership.
Amid this favorable China-Africa cooperation environment, Zhongbo Group actively responds to national priorities by leveraging the Belt and Road Initiative as a bridge to expand collaboration from traditional infrastructure to emerging sectors like green energy and digital economy. Moving forward, the Group plans to accelerate new energy cooperation opportunities with the Burundian government, actively participate in Africa's Green Energy Corridor initiative, and promote more clean energy projects in Burundi to support the development of a clean, low-carbon energy system.
